Mary Taylor created her eponymous label to shift emphasis from the grape to the place. Intended to be approachable and terroir-focused, all wines bearing the Mary Taylor ‘White Label’ do not list the grape on the front but rather the winemaker and appellation. This wine is specifically crafted from grapes grown in the heart of Anjou – on the edge of ‘Anjou Blanc,’ the more westerly region where limestone evokes a lighter, more energetic wine, and ‘Anjou Noir’ where dark, volcanic schist rules and the wine tends to be richer and fuller. This focused iteration of Chenin Blanc is tart but with some weight and flinty minerality, notes of honey, apricot, and golden apple.

Pairing: Lobster Roll
