'No Spain No Gain'
Spain has a reputation that this box aims to argue against. Spainish wine was previously known for nutty Sherry, salty Abariño, and heavily oak-aged Rioja. While I like all those wines, I am championing the fresh new styles that seem to be emerging. Corpinnat makes Spain’s most serious sparkling wines which aims to compete with the prestige of Champagne in quality requirements at a fraction of the price. Indigenous Galician grapes Godello and Treixadura make delicious textured whites in the spirit of white Burgundy. But the most exciting style coming out of Spain right now is Beaujolais-esque reds. Leaning lighter in body, showing tart red fruit, and having tons of savory aromas and flavors look for Garnacha, Mencía, and Listán Negro for some off the charts crushable summer reds.
