Just south of Épernay begins the Cotes de Blanc region of Champagne, where Chardonnay is king. Vineyards are mostly planted on eastern-facing slopes along a 12-mile escarpment that provides absolutely ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay, and few houses can boast a more well-earned reputation for producing remarkable Blanc de Blancs than Pierre Péters. The highly regarded ‘Cuvée de Réserve’ showcases vibrant citrus, green apple, and a kiss of butterscotch on the nose and palate that accompanies a tense, saline and mineral-driven finish. Rodolphe is very consistent with his dosage, retaining balance and annually landing this blend squarely in the Brut classification.
