Winemaker Michele d’Aprix has stepped out of her comfort zone in Bordeaux to produce small batches of wines from Southern Rhone. ‘Maz Caz’, meaning ‘crazy in a good way’, reflects her travelling, Bohemian spirit and is organically farmed, fermented in stainless steel and left unoaked. The grapes are farmed in Costières de Nimes in the Rhône Valley, where Michele loves to get lost, and where Mediterranean influences have a strong-hold in the vineyards. The result is a fruit-forward, dark and juicy every-day sipper you can lose track of time with. It begs for good times and good food with blackberry, raspberry and currants on the palate and a hint of smoke and pepper on the finish.
