Kanonkop is a beautiful family farm situated on the lower slopes of Simonsberg Mountain between Stellenbosch and Paarl, about 40 miles outside of Cape Town.The name Kanonkop is derived from the word ‘kopje’, which refers to the canon that was fired in the 17th century to alert the nearby farmers that a ship was docking at the Cape. Today, the estate is well known for its red wines, and this ‘Cape Blend’ is an illustration why. Its nose is full of raspberries accented with earthy, mocha notes. Medium-bodied, the palate is smooth with ripe blackberry and just enough acid and tannin to bring everything into perfect balance.
