With more than 500 years of history (Chave was founded in 1481), the premier vineyards, and one of the most iconic grape-growing regions in the France, it’s no exaggeration to state that Chave is on the very short list of top domaines in the world. Syrah is king in the Northern Rhone, and the hilltop of Hermitage is where is attains its grandest expression. The wine is soaring yet balanced, hauntingly elegant and powerfully structured, and concentrated while also being perfumed and aromatic. These seemingly contrasting sensations are virtually impossible to capture in the same wine, and it’s somehow a regular occurrence at Chave.
