The property that would one day become Avinyo is an ancient estate, but it wasn’t until 50 years ago that Joan Esteve planted Parellada, Xarel-lo and Macabeo vines for the production of sparkling wine intended primarily for his family’s enjoyment. This simple summer sipper is what the Catalan call a ‘prickly’ wine due to its light effervescence rather than full sparkling character. Its light body and low alcohol make it a perfect candidate to start a meal or simply enjoy chilled on the patio. The Muscat gives it a beautiful honeysuckle nose with citrus notes of lemon peel and a hint of briny minerality.
