Region: Gamlitzberg, Styria, Austria Grape(s): Sauvignon Blanc Winemaker: Katharina Tinnacher Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
Located in Styria, known as “the Green Heart” of Austria thanks to the extensive forest land that covers the rolling Alpine hills throughout the region, Lackner-Tinnacher is ideally situated within a landscape perfectly suited for growing crisp, refreshing white wine grapes. With winemaker Katharina Tinnacher at the helm of her family’s vineyards and winery, the long-standing tradition of crafting beautiful wines in the region has been taken to new heights. This Sauvignon Blanc from their estate vineyards in Gamlitz is a beautiful origin-oriented style. Katharina gently presses the grapes for 24 hours to provide a richer but refreshing wine. Highly aromatic citrus, starfruit, and herbs dance on the nose and palate. A bright, crisp finish balances the weight from some time spent in large neutral barrels on the lees, making a refined and elegant style of Sauvignon Blanc.
