Region: Gavi, Piedmont, Italy Grape(s): Cortese Drinks Best: Now - 1 Year
Villa Sparina is nestled in the Monterotondo vineyards in the heart of Gavi. Although it has passed hands several times dating back to the 18th century, the Moccagatta family has been managing the vineyards since the 1970’s and has developed the land into a flourishing winery. Although they make small amounts of other wines, Cortese is their focus. Minerality is the core of this wine. Tangerine and floral notes on the nose are poised with lemon and citrus, heading towards orchard fruits on the palate. It is Gavi in all sense of the region - bright, refreshing, and packed with flavor.
Pairings: Ligurian Seafood Stew with basil-saffron cream sauce
