Vietti, located in the Langhe hills, has been producing wine since the late 1800s. In 2016, the Krause family acquired the winery and expanded its holdings, including vineyards in the Colli Tortonesi area dedicated to Timorasso. This variety, often referred to as a “lost grape,” has seen a revival with the 2019 vintage marking its debut at Vietti. The 2022 Timorasso is grown in vineyards around Monleale, with soils rich in limestone and clay resulting in a bright, mineral-driven wine with structure and weight. The grapes undergo fermentation in a mix of ceramic vessels, oak casks, and stainless steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 months on the fine lees, giving it a dry, warm, and balanced profile with pear, peach, acacia, and honey notes, and a long, refreshing finish.
