Mel's Notes:

Pfalz wine region is in the southeast part of Germany, which hugs
Rheinhessen to the North and worms all the way down to the French border
meeting Alsace. Pfalz’s winemaking landscape is diverse which allows for a
wide variety of grapes with a strong focus on Riesling. Weingut Von Winning
“Winnings” Riesling was founded in 1849 and produces some of the most
exciting Rieslings in all of Germany. I have been a devoted admirer of this
wine dating back to my restaurant days at Stanbury, it’s always a winner in
my book for its versatility in pairings (see what I did there?!) The aroma of
this wine is a symphony of green apple and citrus notes with a hint of
minerals. On the palate, it strikes the perfect balance- zesty acidity with a
kiss of residual sugar, making it incredibly refreshing. The predominant
flavors are crisp apple and a touch of honey, leading to a clean smooth
finish.

What do I like to drink?

I drink a wide variety of wines. I enjoy the journey wine takes you on. I do tend to lean towards the bright, funky, refreshing, higher acid wines- I love tart flavors! My taste buds change seasonally with the weather. In the cooler months, I gravitate towards floral, juicy reds.
