In 1948 Karl and Johanna Strauss took over the Weingut Strauss, founded in 1810 under the name ‘Schopper.’ Today, sons Karl Jun and Gustav run the family business - Karl Jun handles the logistics, while brother Gustav works in the vineyards and winery. The wines they produce are hand-harvested, fresh, fruitful and true to their varietal. This impressive Sauvignon Blanc from Strauss’ prime vineyard sites on the hillsides of the Gamlitzberg Mountain features gooseberry and lemon citrus notes accented with fresh cut herbs. On the palate it carries a little bit of weight that is effortlessly balanced with a firm vein of fresh acidity. A wine with impressive depth and elegance that belies its price.
