Second Course: All About Austria

Austrian wine has enjoyed a lot of attention over the past couple decades. Although famous for bright, refreshing whites and unctuous dessert wines, Austria can produce stunning examples across the entire spectrum of wine: white, red, rosé, dry, and sweet. This versatility is why Austrian wine can be found on so many wine lists across the country. This class will be a one-and-a-half-hour exploration of five stunning Austrian wines and where they are from. We will touch on the evolution of Austrian wine throughout history from its popularity with kings and emperors to its fall as an international pariah and rise again as darling of the sommelier community.
