Weingut Schlossmühlenhof 'Boden Funk' Blanc de Noirs Rosé 2021
Region: Rheinhessen, Germany Grape(s): Spätburgunder Winemaker: Nicolas Michel Drinks Best: Now
The Schlossmühlenhof estate has been in the Michel family for six generations. It began as a rye and wheat mill until the 1920s, when the small vineyard attached became the focus of the family business. Today, the farm operates organically, although they are not certified. The vineyards are cultivated using ecologically healthy farming practices in order to preserve the fruity expression of the Rheinhessen style. Their Blanc de Noir is made from Spätburgunder, German for Pinot Noir, and is bottled unfiltered after six months of aging on the lees. This provides ‘Boden Funk’ with texture and a cloudy appearance. Discover a refreshingly crisp palate with notes of orange blossoms, grapefruit, and a mineral-driven finish.
