Nicoletta Bocca acquired the San Fereolo property in 1992 and has since become certified biodynamic. Barbera comprises the majority of the blend in ‘Austri’ along with a touch of Nebbiolo. It spends 3 years of elevage in neutral oak, followed by 3-4 years in bottle before release. This is a powerful yet poised Piedmontese red that will benefit from decanting. Black cherry, cassis, and wild raspberry join forces with leather, mountian herbs, cedar, tobacco, and a touch of barnyard while the fine tannins and balanced acidity enhance the mineral core.
