Region: Fort-Ross Seaview, Sonoma County, California, United States Vineyard: Sea Field Vineyard Grape(s): Pinot Noir Winemaker: Carlo & Dante Mondavi Drinks Best: Now - 10 Years
RAEN Winery was founded in 2013 by Carlo & Dante Mondavi, the grandsons of Robert Mondavi. They worked with their father, Tim, to help build up Continuum Estate before beginning their own venture. Now they’re producing some world class, cold climate Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. This Pinot is sourced from the nearly 5-acre Sea Field Vineyard situated less than 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean. This site is an ancient sea field of diverse marine soils broken down from bedrock dating back almost 200 million years ago. Year after year this vineyard produces elegant, age-worthy Pinot Noirs. Complex aromas of rose petals, blood orange pith, macerated raspberry, and forest floor integrate beautifully with the palate. Flavors of white tea, rhubarb, savory herbs, and floral tones linger on the lengthy finish.
Pairings:Picanha steak, grilled corn, okra, embered cream, tobacco onions, chimichurri from Death & Taxes
