Master Class: with Steve Matthiasson of Matthiasson Wines

Steve Matthiasson is a name that rings many bells when we talk about Napa Valley winemakers. His accolades include Winemaker of the Year by Food & Wine Magazine and six time James Beard Award nominee/semi-finalist for Outstanding Wine Professional. 

We are elated to welcome Steve into the Raleigh Wine Shop classroom for a master class to taste through a lineup of Matthiasson Wines.

Steve began working in California agriculture in the 90s as a consultant overseeing sustainable practices in orchards and vineyards. In 1999, he even co-authored the California manual for sustainable farming. In 2003, Steve and his wife, Jill, started Matthiasson Wines. The winery focuses on classic presentations of the Napa grapes we all know and love- Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition they also create cuvées with lesser known grapes, that we also love, such as Vermentino, Schioppettino, and Ribolla Gialla. And of course, his yearly release of Rosé has culminated a cult like following across the country.
