This family-owned estate in the region of Alicante in southeastern Spain has been honing its craft since its first bottling in 1780. In that time, Primitivo Quilles has become well versed in working in the unique and challenging terroir of Alicante and creating classic wines that still show a great sense of place.  The Cono 4 – sourced from 50-60 year old Monastrell (AKA Mourvèdre) vines - balances its black raspberry and wild strawberry fruit with savory notes of licorice and tobacco. These all come together in a warm and spicy finish lifted with just the right kiss of fresh acidity.  Totally different yet eminently approachable, this is one of our new favorite table wines.
