Graziano Pra is more well-known for his white wines, as he was one of the winemakers responsible for rehabilitating the reputation of Soave and the Garganega grape in the 1980’s. But he quietly purchased vineyards in the early 2000’s with an eye for red wine production. With the same dedication and commitment to excellence he brought to his whites, Graziano is now releasing Valpolicella wines that are a stunning revelation. For his Amarone, all the grapes are air-dried on mats for two months before fermentation then aged for two years in barrique and then a futher year in large neutral barrels. Remarkable fresh and balanced with dried cherry and plum, potpourri and peppery spice.
