In 1995, Dave Powell began one of Australia’s most inconic wine brands in a shed on his 25 acre property in Barossa Valley. He was essentially share cropping, restoring venerable yet neglected vineyards for free in return for a percentage of the fruit. After decades of work he had a very public and acrimonius split with the main investor. Luckily the personal relationships he maintained with his vineyard sources held true, and they followed his departure. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes Dave Powell is making wine on his terms as good or better than before. Boisterous and powerful, this wine shows notes of kirsch and blueberry compote with dried savory herbs and cured meat.
