Region: Sicily, Italy Grape(s): Nero d'Avola Drinks Best: Now - 1 Year
The Nero d’Avola grape, first cultivated from the ancient, and namesake, town of Avola, is one of Sicily’s most important grapes. Known for its black color and affinity for hot and arid climates, nowhere in the world suits it better than Sicily.Although historically significant in the production of Marsala on the island, it is also often crafted in a wide range of table wines in an array of styles - from light, fresh Pinot Noir-like flavors to as big and plummy as Shiraz. The Palazzi Nero is right down the middle. Medium-bodied and juicy, it’s a perfect ‘pizza night’ wine to stock up on. Tart cherry and dried herbs on the palate give it a boost of flavor that packs a punch for this great value.
Pairings: Your favorite take out pizza - ours is with mushrooms and black olives
