The Chalmers family estate was originally planted with international grape varieties like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Then, in 1998, the family became the Australian agent for an Italian nursery whose mission was to establish a more diverse set of grapes in climates and soils like the Australian landscape. Today, the estate has more than 75 different grape varieties and clones ranging from Aglianico and Vermentino to Uva di Troia. The skin contact white is a co-ferment blend that pulls the best qualities from multiple white Italian varieties imported by the Chalmers. Aromas of apricot and tropical flowers introduce a refreshing, textured palate of fresh herbs, juicy melon, and orange blossoms.
