In 2003, American winemaker Michael Schmelzer moved to the small town of Panzano located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. He began farming the Monte Bernardi vineyards with organic and biodynamic techniques to cultivate healthier soil and vines. This liter of Sangiovese is an homage to the straw covered ‘fiasco’ bottles of Chianti that are often used as decor in old school Italian restaurants. A bouquet of ripe blackberry, baking spices, woodsy herbs, and a hint of cocoa introduce a rustic, medium-bodied palate. Gritty, dusty tannins,  balanced, fresh acidity and a bold, peppery finish make this a classic expression of Sangiovese perfect for your next family meal.
