Region: Anjou, Loire Valley, France Grape(s): 80% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker: Pascal Biotteau Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
Mary Taylor created her eponymous label to shift emphasis from the grape to the place. Intended to be approachable and terroir-focused,all wines bearing the Mary Taylor ‘White Label’ do not list the grape on the front but rather the winemaker and appellation. This area of Anjou, farmed by the fourth generation of the Biotteau family, lies at the cusp of a geographical fault line with half the vines are grown in white limestone and the other half grown in slate. This wine is for the Cab Franc lovers out there - earthy but pretty and perfumed with vegetal aromas of green bell pepper, poblano, and purple flowers balanced by raspberry, pomegranate, and plum on the palate.
