Region: Beaujolais-Villages, Burgundy, France
Grape(s): Gamay
Winemaker: Jean-Claude Chanudey
Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
In 2010, Jean-Claude Chanudet and Marie LaPierre purchased a tiny parcel with granitic soils, and thus created ‘Cuvée du Chat.’ Although it’s classified as Beaujolais-Villages, it drinks more like a Brouilly - intense and structured. A very slow carbonic maceration  allows the wine to show off a juicy, fresh, soft side at the same time, making for an beautifully balanced wine that is in true Chanudet style. Ready to drink now with a smoky nose and tart raspberry and fresh dirt on the palate. Give it another day open, and you’ll see a transformation - a little air really brings out the softer side and velvety black cherry!

Pairings:
Rich, mushroom stuffing with cranberry sauce & yams
