Region: Huia & Winsome Vineyards, Marlborough, New Zealand Grape(s): Sauvignon Blanc Winemaker: Claire and Mike Allan Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Huia’s winery is named after an extinct native bird whose feather - shown on the label - represents wisdom, elegance and dignity - three philosophies the winery exudes through their organically made wines. In 1994, Claire and Mike Allan planted the first vines of their winery, with a focus on making New World wines with a strong expression of the land. This Sauvignon Blanc is made with grapes from twoestate vineyards, one providing tropical and citrus fruits and the other contributing herbs, lime zest and minerality. It is fermented to dryness and aged for some time in new and neutral French oak, giving the wine body and unique complexity rarely found in the region.
