Foucher-Lebrun 'La Vigne des Sablons' Vouvray 2021
Region: Vouvray, Touraine, Loire Valley, France Grape(s): Chenin Blanc Winemaker: Marc Vappereau Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
Founded in 1921, the Foucher-Lebrun estate specializes in wines that express the unique terroir of the Loire Valley through careful selection, vinification, and aging of their wines. Today, winemaker Marc Vappereau has taken the reigns of the business and continues to produce beautifully balanced wines at a remarkable value. ‘La Vigne des Sablons’ is made of Chenin Blanc, one of several white grapes that the Loire Valley is known for. Vouvray is located on the northern bank of the Loire River where the cooling effect of the nearby Atlantic Ocean helps draw out the natural acidity of this grape. Aromas of white flowers introduce a fresh, zippy palate of apricot and pear fruit with plenty of acidity, weight, and a touch of residual sugar to balance.
