Region: Arroyo Seco, Central Coast, California, United States Grape(s): Gamay Noir Winemaker: Kenny LIkitprakong Drinks Best: Now
Great chefs don’t have to grow their own ingredients and Kenny’s wines are a testament to the fact that delicious, honestly made wines don’t have to be estate grown by the winemaker. Kenny doesn’t own a single vineyard, a winemaking facility, or even a delivery truck. What he does do is scour California for the best fruit he can find from responsible growers to create his delicious wines. His Folk Machine label is home to some of the more esoteric grapes he finds. This Gamay rosé is slowly fermented in stainless steel at a cool temperature preserving aromatics of ripe raspberries and rose petals. The palate is very light and delicate withcrisp and refreshing with notes of earl grey, ripe strawberries and watermelon.
Pairings: Caprese Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil
