Fattoria La Vialla, a centuries old farm, was left abandoned, but in 1978 theLo Franco family moved in, revived the land, and converted it to an organic and biodynamic farm and wine estate. With 3,459 acres, this is the largest Demeter certified farm in Europe and produces not only wine, but olive oil, pecorino cheese, sauces, pasta, vinegar, honey, biscuits, and other sweet treats. This is their Super Tuscan-style blend. Mainly Sangiovese filled out by Cabernet and Merlot, it still possesses a rustic dry earth character but bolstered with blackberry and plum fruit, cedar, and a hint of mint that gently reminds one of Bordeaux.
Pairings: Antipasto platter loaded with cheese, salami, and olives
