This Domaine demonstrates what elegance can arise from specialization and hard work. Formed when Pierre-Emmanuel Sangouard united his family vineyard with those of his wife Catherine Guyot, the couple grows Chardonnay exclusively. They also insist on maintaining what they call “a human scale operation”, meaning everything in the vineyard is done manually. This allows them to focus on specific terroir characteristics in each of their various cuvées. The ‘Terroirs’ comes from vineyards throughout Vergisson and sees neutral oak aging, which imparts a lovely texture without assertive oak flavors. The wine features lemon curd and green apple fruit along with a thread of crushed rock throughout the palate and finishes with refreshing acidity.
