Domaine Sangouard-Guyot demonstrates what elegance can arise from specialization and hard work. Formed when Pierre-Emmanuel Sangouard united his family vineyard with those of his wife Catherine Guyot, the couple grows Chardonnay exclusively. They also insist on maintaining what they call “a human scale operation”, meaning everything in the vineyard is done manually. This allows them to focus on specific terroir characteristics in each of their various cuvées. ‘Au Brûle’ is sourced from vineyards in Saint-Véran and offers aromas of peach, pear, and honeysuckle. The palate is round and textured with notes of orange peel, exotic fruits, and a flinty minerality.
Pairings: A low country boil with plenty of shellfish and Old Bay
