Domaine Romuald Petit 'Vieilles Vignes' Morgon 2019
Region: Morgon, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France Grape(s): Gamay Winemaker: Romuald Petit Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Morgon native, Romuald Petit, produces wines from his vineyard holdings in the Maconnais as well as Beaujolais. He strives to produce wines that are as balanced as possible while maintaining maximum expressiveness. He only harvests by hand while omitting the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in his vineyards and is gradually converting each parcel to organic viticulture. This Gamay comes to us from a lieu-dit in Morgon that Romuald inherited from his family where the vines are between 60 and 100 years old. This is a bolder style of Gamay with a darker, earthier nose that has hints of mushrooms. The palate has plenty of black cherryfruit to match with a granitic, mineral-drivenfinish.
