Another stunning find from collective Vignerons Propriétés Associés in Southern France. Their mission is to bring together winemakers and growers who have decided to craft wines that are distinctive of place. This cuvée from Pierre Latard is a reimagining of a Côtes du Rhône blend. Pierre admits he was once overenamored with Syrah, so he wanted to make a wine that was entirely old vine Carignan. These days he does blend in the traditional mainstays of Grenache and Syrah for complexity, but the wine remains completely and fully Latard. Ripe and rich raspberry and cherry fruit, a hint of violets rounded out with a kiss of licorice spice.
