Region: Fronton, Southwest, France Grape(s): 60% Négrette, 20% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Franc Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Southwest France is home to a multitude of villages and sub -egions that specialize in blends featuring once common grapes now lost to obscurity. In the region of Fronton outside of Toulouse, winemakers preserve and champion the grape Négrette for their reds and rosés. Known for making fruity, perfumed wines, Négrette must make up at least half of any wines that wishes to identify as Fronton. Domaine de Lescure follows the classic recipe adding in Syrah and Cabernet Franc for good measure. The resulting blend sports flavors of black raspberry with hints of pepperspice and dried thyme.
