Dirty & Rowdy stormed onto the California winemaking scene in the early 2000's, defiantly making natural wines from obscure grapes. Relative newcomers to the world of wine, coming from Georgia, Hardy Wallace and Matt Richardson took a big risk and bought a ton of Mourvèdre to make two barrels of wine in 2010. They quickly garnered a following, and the ‘Familiar’ Mourvèdre is their workhorse. A medium-bodied red showing vibrant fruit notes of juicy black currant and redolent with wild herbs and spices. They like to say it “drinks like yacht rock for space pirates.” And we’re okay with that.
