Peter Finlayson was a true pioneer in South African wine, one of the few people who began making wine outside of the governmental system of control in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Today, his son is carrying on the family tradition in Walker Bay, crafting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in a genuinely Burgundian, terroir-driven style. The ‘Peter Max’ name of this wine is an homage to the owners of the original vineyards from which the grapes for this cuvée were sourced. Structured on the palate with ample red and black cherry fruit and a lifted, aromatic finish, this is South African Pinot from its premier producer.
