In 1980 friends Cilia, Occhipinti, and Strano together bought a small parcel in Southern Sicily with the common goal of making wine reminiscent of their ancestors. The trio epitomizes natural winemakers - chemical pesiticides or fertilizes are never used in their vineyards and aging takes place in sustainable, large clay vats, called amphoras, that date back to Egyptian-era winemaking. Their Frappato is fermented and aged in concrete to keep this medium-bodied wine bright, fresh and poppin’. It leaps out of the glass with beautiful and persistent floral and bright red berry fruit aromas. The flavors carry through this long, elegant, and eminently enjoyable benchmark Frappato.
