Region: Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, Marche, Italy Grape(s): Lacrima Drinks Best: Now
Lacrima, a rare grape that is named for it's teardrop shape, was nearly extinct before being revitalized by a handful of winemakers in the 1980s. This is a beautifully aromatic wine that shows perfumed notes of violets and high toned red and blue fruit. The light bodied palate is fruit-driven with notes of blueberry and raspberry while the soft tannins and juicy finish will keep you coming back for more. This is a fascinating wine that is a fun sideways move for Pinot Noir or Gamay drinkers!
