The Morelli estate is located in the town of Fano, where the Metauro river flows into the Adriatic Sea. Meanwhile, the nearby Apennine mountains fall dramatically into the river and ocean, making for stark contrasts in terroirs from vineyards that may only be a few miles from one another. Claudio says this allows each vineyard to retain its own voice and character that he simply shepherds into the bottle. His Sangiovese showcases the darker stylings of this classic central Italian varietal, leading with black cherry fruit accompanied by dusty, supple tannins on the mid-palate before finishing with dried herbal aromatics.
