Castello di Torre in Pietra lies on ancient ground that was once traversed by Roman soldiers from the city’s western gates to the Tyhrennian sea. Winemaking here is a wee bit more recent: established as a winery just twenty years ago, Torre in Pietra farms organically on eigthy hectares of land mere kilometers from the water. That proximity to the sea gives this bright and sunny wine a pleasing touch of salinity. Botanical aromas introduce a lush palate of green apple, lime, and fresh herbs with a hint of bitter almond and a silky finish. Wines here are made in a combination of stainless steel tank and enamel-lined concrete tanks, preserving freshness and keeping the focus on clean, understated fruit.
