The Monferrato region may not be quite as well known as the neighboring Langhe, but it yields its fair share of delicious wines too. Outside of the wines from Asti, you’ll find lots of solid everyday options, though they’re rarely as interesting as this Dolcetto from Cascina Barisel. This new arrival comes to us from a good friend and Piedmont-centric wine importer, who’s focused on naturally-made wines that deliver excellent quality for the money. The Barisel Dolcetto has a delicious mix of red raspberry, tart strawberry, and spicy notes combined with a lighter bodied palate that finishes fresh and bright.
