Carussin is one of only two certified organic vineyards in the San Marzano Oliveto region. The Ferro family founded the estate in 1927 in the hills of Barbera d’Asti between Nizza Monferrato and Canelli. Lia Ví is made from 35 year old vines and named after the little bird that nests in the vineyard by knotting together pieces of the vine. All of the pieces certainly come together in this wine. Punches of dark red berries are accented with a touch of earth and rose petals in the background. It is aged in concrete and steel for less than a year, lending itself to a palate bursting with juicy black cherry, plum, and bright acidity for a fresher style of Barbera. Hints of pepper and clove spices give vibrancy to the finish.
