The Cardedu vineyards have been in the Loi family since the early 900s. Throughout all four generations, down to Sergio, they have never once used any chemicals in the fields and have always made their wine in a minimal intervention style. Located on the Southeastern coast of Sardinia in Jerzu, they farm the esoteric and local Monica grape that thrives in the granite and schist soils. It spends some time in giant cement tanks underneath Sergio’s home, and is bottled unfiltered allowing the fruit to truly pop on the palate. Bright red raspberry and wild strawberry make up a fresh, brambly, and juicy wine that, with a little bit of a chill, is a staple in warmer months.
