In 1946, Sardinia was recovering from World War II. A large part of their ‘Piani di Rinascita,’ or ‘Rebirth Plans,’ was to redistribute agricultural lands. The area of Nurra, in northwest Sardinia, was reclaimed by the government and then given over to farmworkers, and, in 1959, a hundred of them formed a cooperative which led to the formation of Santa Maria la Palma. Now, they continue to honor the land of Sardinia by showcasing their native grapes and terroir in an approachable way. The ‘Aragosta’ rosé is vibrant and refreshing with juicy red berry fruit and a round, lush texture. A hint of salinity and savory finish make this a versatile food pairing wine.
