Region: Paso Robles, California, United States Vineyard: Margarita Vineyard Grape(s): Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker: Chris Brockway Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
The ‘New California’ movement has hit hard. As a counter to the big, full-bodied wines of yesteryear, many winemakers are shifting towards crafting sustainable, balanced wines from esoteric grapes in outpost vineyards around the state. Chris Brockway has become a champion for the movement, but he also takes pride in California’s winemaking roots. Enter the Brea Wine project – high quality grapes from small farmers made in a terroir driven style. The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Margarita Vineyard whose cooler climate produces a more delicateexpression of California Cabernet with mild tannins and a mineral-drivenpalate to accompany the plush blackberry and plum fruit.
