Bodegas D. Mateo are far from the new kids on the block in the storied region of Rioja. In fact, the family can trace their winemaking roots in the heart of Rioja Baja, at the foot of Mount Yerga, back for seven generations. With that history comes generations of expertise, but in this case, without the price tag to match. The La Mateo is juicy, easy drinking and bursting with cherry and raspberry flavors. It’s a tasty, balanced expression of Tempranillo accented with a touch of spice and smoke in the background due to six months in used French oak barrels.
