Djordje Bikicki (bee-keetz-kee) is a former DJ who is now producing elegant, fun wines with low-intervention techniques in the Fruška Gora region of Serbia along the Danube River. After taking over the family’s winemaking business, Djordje converted their vineyards to organic farming with the intention of making balanced and clean natural wines. ‘Sfera Noir’ is named after the spherical concrete fermentation vessels used. Made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Black Muscat this is a light, playful red with aromas of candied cherry, wildflowers, and red licorice with a vibrantly fresh palate loaded with ripe blackberry, sour raspberry, and just the right amount of spice on a soft finish. Who knew Serbian wine could be so delicious?
