Region: Piedmont, Italy Grape(s): Barbera Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
Brich Barbera is a collaboration between importer Hootananny Wines and self-proclaimed Barberista Fabrizio Iuli, whose family has been farming organically for 4 generations in Montaldo in the Monferrato region of Piemonte. The 30 year old vines of this Barbera come from the La Tina vineyard, abandoned for 15 years before Fabrizio’s rejuvenation. A dank, herbaceous nose - like a fall walk in the woods - yields to juicy blue plums and black cherry on the palate. Long maceration produces a darker, meatier style of Barbera, while maintaining light tannins and fresh acidity.
