Region: Languedoc-Roussillon, France Grape(s): Cinsault Winemaker: François Ducrot Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Winemaker François Ducrot sources the Cinsault for this wine from a small organic farm in Apsiran. He learned that in this outpost location, just west of Montpellier, the locals were selling their grapes for bulk juice, and he wasn’t about to let these stellar vineyard sites go to waste. The vines are constricted by the poor, silt and clay soils of the region, but it allows for lower yields and a concentration in the berries that sings in the glass. He keeps this wine in all stainless steel to really let the Cinsault flaunt its high-tone red fruit aromatics. Purple flowers and spice on the nose give way to more juicy red raspberries and cranberries on the medium-bodied palate. Give this a slight chill and enjoy!
