Silenus Winery began as a walnut orchard in 1968 before being converted to Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. The grapes were sold to reputable producers like Robert Mondavi and Clos du Val who used these grapes for their reserve wines. This inspired the first release of their own wine in 1980, and the winery has been in constant operation since then. ‘Tyros’ is aged for 22 months in both new French oak and new American oak which provides a well balanced mix of oaky spices, lush fruitiness, and bold tannins. Rich aromas of ripe plum and black cherry intermingle with scents of vanilla while the dark, fruit-driven palate is balanced with notes of bay leaf and dried rose petals.
